Many of us have same problem: We can’t get into a Workout routine and/or we can’t stick with it. We have good intentions and know all of the benefits of regular exercise, but forming a good fitness habit is still the hardest thing to do. There is enough time, energy, or interest. Today we’ll take a look at list of things you can do to help break the cycle. Try one or all of them to give you that extra push.

    1. Be prepared. Take out your workout clothes the night before, leave you favorite workout DVD in the player; put your hand weights next to the bed. Make it as easy as possible to get ready and get to it.  Also, if you travel to the gym always keep a packed gym bag in the car.
    2. Don’t go home. If your goal is to work out after work, go straight there. Every stop is a distraction and deterrent from your final destination. So if at all possible avoid going home and/or stopping anywhere before going to the gym.
    3. Make a list of activities you like. Don’t leave your workout to chance, before you get started with your new routine, make a list of 5-10 things you like to do i.e. Bike, Jillian Video, Wii Active, Free weight, Zumba Class etc.. Having a list will give you a clear set of options so every day you are not spending 5-10mins of workout time trying to decide what activity you’re go to do.
    4. Set and agenda and make an appointment. Why do you think every office environment in America adopted these 2 techniques, because they work. Knowing what you are going to accomplish and setting a time to accomplish it is the best way to focus on meeting your goal. Pick which days and times you’re going to work out and for each day plug in an activity from #3. Start with making your schedule 1 week at a time, write it down, and post it some place you and the family can see. So everyone knows at that time you are working out.
    5. Get a fitness buddy. It’s more fun and easier to workout when you’re not alone. It also keeps you motivated because you’re accountable to someone else. You and your buddy can motivate and push each other. Your buddy doesn’t have to be in person, if you don’t have any one local try getting a virtual buddy. Call each other before and after workout time to ensure your buddy went and email your schedule and discussions on progress even from far you can still push.
    6. Tell others about your new regime and goals. This is similar to #5 but a lot more public. When you start your new routine tell friends and family about it. Start a blog (hint, hint), tweet, or post it as your status on your choice of social networking site. Sharing your journey and your progress a) keeps you pumped and excited from all the support and positive energy you get from friends, and b) it keeps you honest and makes you accountable. Who really wants to quit after you’ve announced this new venture to the world?
    7. Start slow. This tip may seem strange after convincing you to get up go, now I’m telling you to slow down. Setting a grueling schedule of 5 times a weeks, 1.5 hours a day, and pushing your body exhaustion each time is the worse way to start. If you are overworked and in pain your more likely to quit and possible injure yourself which will stop your workouts all together. So start slow maybe 3 days a week for 30-45mins every 2 weeks add a day or extend the time until you’re at the level you would like to achieve.
    8. Stay off the scale. Here’s another strange one. Our goal is weight loss and here I am telling you stay off the scale. Well that’s exactly what I want you to do, only weigh yourself once before starting and then don’t get on the scale again for at least 2-3 weeks. Weighing your self daily will not show you real progress and the lack of progress will leave you disappointed and discouraged. Spacing out your weigh-ins gives you a better chance of seeing real change and results.
    9. Join or Start a Contest. Versions of contest like Biggest Loser are popping up everywhere. The work place, neighborhood, gym etc. Participating in these events is a great way to get and stay motivated. Let your competitive spirit push to get started and by the time the contest is over keeping up the good work will be a cinch.
    10. Join a team or a group Team sports are a great way to physical fitness, and committing to a team is a great way to stay motivated.  Bring back that team spirit you had in High School and College, look up information on local teams for your favorite sport and join. For those who like activities that don’t necessarily have teams there are plenty of groups and clubs out there for things like biking, walking, swimming, etc. Some gyms even offer small group exercise classes. So look out around and Google I’m sure you’ll find something out there for you.

  6. Rebellious hair can be tamed instantly by anchoring it into a twist or ponytail either low on the nape of the neck or high on the crown of the head, says hairstylist Jimmy Paul of the Bumble and Bumble salon in New York City. For a more polished look, add a hair accessory such as a tortoiseshell clip.
